Understand The Loopholes

Due to the lack of FDA regulation on company claims, it is important to look at labels.  Many companies position their products as “clean, organic, all-natural or green” and they really are not because they still include toxic ingredients. This practice is call Greenwashing.

Through the Federal Fair Packaging and Labeling Act the use of “Fragrance” is a widely used loophole to hide toxic ingredients in personal care & cosmetics products. This ACT exempts fragrance and related ingredients from the information that needs to appear on product labels. Therefore, companies are not required to disclose all of the ingredients in their products in order to protect their “trades secrets”. This is all wildly misleading to consumers.

There are many more ingredient names to be mindful of that can lurk in your everyday personal care products.
