My Journey Into Clean Beauty

When I found out I was pregnant with my first child in 2013, I felt a new sense of responsibility. I wanted to give my baby the healthiest start possible. Like many expectant moms, I turned to clean eating and physical wellness, believing I was doing everything right to create a safe and nourishing environment for my growing family.

But despite my efforts, something felt off. I was still using heavily fragranced baby products, chemically laden cleaning supplies, and artificial room deodorizers. I thought, “These are products marketed for families – how could they be harmful?”

Then, the cracks in that belief started to show. My daughter developed persistent skin irritations that flared up repeatedly. The only relief came from steroid creams, but I knew that wasn’t a sustainable solution. I felt helpless watching her struggle, and I knew I had to dig deeper.

Around the same time, I was grappling with my own skin issues. For years, I had dealt with eczema and other sensitivities, but I hadn’t considered how my environment might be contributing to the problem.

After all, I’d spent 17+ years working for a major cosmetics company where the products were far from “clean.”

I was constantly surrounded by fragrances, preservatives, and other chemicals that likely exacerbated my condition. Looking back, I realize how those ingredients impacted not just my skin but my overall well-being.

What I discovered through research was eye-opening and heartbreaking: many products designed to make us feel “clean and pretty” are packed with ingredients linked to hormone disruption, skin sensitivity, and long-term health risks.

These weren’t just minor concerns; they were systemic issues in the beauty and wellness industries.

From that moment, I made a promise – not just to my daughter, but to myself and my family. I began researching and seeking out brands that avoided harmful, toxic ingredients. This journey started with my home, but it didn’t stop there.

By 2019, my growing awareness shaped my work as a professional makeup artist.

Clean Beauty became more than a personal mission – it became the foundation of my work. I realized that beauty doesn’t have to come at the expense of health.

Today, I’m passionate about sharing that message with others, empowering people to make safer, more mindful choices for themselves and their loved ones. In my Holistic Beauty Strategist practice, I even take this to a foundational level and educate women on how to nourish their bodies on and off the plate to age well, look healthier, and love what they see in the mirror.
